![]() ![]() I started on a cheap classical guitar and told myself that I would buy a nice electric one only after I completed Justin's beginner course as well as Ben Levin's Music Theory course. As I review the course from time to time, I notice ways in which his early lessons prepare the student for upcoming challenges (such as in the order he teaches chords, etc.) Justin's course gave me a structure to follow and allowed me to focus on learning, instead of wasting time re-inventing a course outline. I guess I could have done it all without Justin Guitar's help, but it would have taken a lot longer. Once this was fixed, barre chords were still a challenge, but eventually I was able to do it. Then I learned my guitar's action was high and it made it more difficult than needed. Then I stumbled upon barre chords and they were so impossible I even took a break from guitar for a while, after a couple months of fighting against these chords. I was sceptical about ever achieving it myself. Then spend a while doing both at the same time. The best guitar lessons online, and theyre free Fun, comprehensive and well structured courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced guitar players. But then someone confirmed what Justin said: Just practice the strumming part until it's automatic, and sing the song without the guitar until you can do it easily too. Then I struggled with singing while playing. It seemed insanely impossible to keep up with the metronome. Then I struggled with keeping the rhythm while playing the beginner's songs. It seemed like I would never be able to do it. I practiced every day, struggled immensely with my first 3 open chords (A E and D). ![]() I did the beginner course and it helped me a lot.
